castle: modeling - textures - render [video]

This is the first part in a series of tutorials, about modeling a medieval castle, during this first part you'll learn some simple polymodelling techniques, we'll create a castle wall and tower, more details will be added in the next part of the tutorial. Once the modeling is finished i'll continue with textures & shaders, finally there will be a part on rendering it all, i hope you enjoy the tutorial so far, comments are welcome!

V-ray HDRI settings in 3dsmax (not another pool ball :)

I started this project while I was trying to render some glass in the mini-challenge of CGTALK.Window and Kleinbottle are not modelled by me but taken from the site of the competition. I wanted to use V-ray and GI and I found some tutorials on the web about V-ray and HDRI but all of them were about pool balls. I needed also to learn a simple texturing and in my room there is a matryoshka http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matryoshka_doll that smiles at me near my 3d books and so I decided to model it and see what I could achieve learning a bit more about settings of HDRI and DOF in V-ray (www.chaosgroup.com)
